Kayla's Invites

I've been working hard this holiday weekend on Graduation Invitations. Our oldest niece is graduating soon, and I was honored & touched that her & her Mom asked if I could make the invites for them:)

I ended up with three designs, mostly out of necessity. The first one had way too many gems and the red bow in the diploma was not making it look right in my opinion. So I removed it! lol I use the purple rhinestones until I ran out, then I switched to black, (easily found in my stash!) I was trying to keep the costs low. All in all, I feel good about making 53 invites for $32.00.

If the invites look funny....its because I'm trying to figure out the scanner without the husband home...lol. I'm sooo proud of the fact I figured out how to "white out" all the personal info so I could post them here! lol

I used Core’dinations Pearl Black Cardstock, And Core’dinations Purple cardstock.
In real life its so shimmery!

Altered Ribbon Iron

I created for my Alter Me Crazy Challenge over at SNS.

Above is the before Picture.

This is what it looks like now: (And I must say - still functions beautifully in ironing my ribbon!)

It was so fun and easy to do! It came apart quite easily to spray paint, and still works beautifully! I used Heidi Swapp Ghost Wings, A ZZ Embellishment, Spray Paint that is OK to get hot, and misc bling and rub ons from my stash. I love it so much more now! Its no longer Pink! Yeah!! Oh - and the the quote around the back states - Life is an experiment!

How To: Make a Ribbon Memo Board

I originally posted this on the SNS Blog for the August 1st How to....... I'd thought you might like to see it here too!

This is a lot easier to make than it looks! And you can adapt this to whatever supplies you have on hand! Have fun with it!

Gather Your Supplies:

Here I'm using an old bulletin Board - frame removed, fabric to size, furniture nails, 10 yards of ribbon, scissors, stapler, low loft batting, and pins (not shown)

First Things First:

Cut your Batting to Size:

Staple to Bulletin Board

Trim off Excess Batting:

Front Of Bulletin Board:

Back of Bulletin Board:

Now take your fabric and trim to size - leave a generous outline (you can cut off the excess later)

Now go ahead and Staple that material to your Bulletin Board!

Don't forget to trimm off your excess when you are done.

Now here comes the fun part! Place your ribbon how you would like it! I chose to criss cross the ribbon, as well as use and over/under pattern. Here is where I discovered that straight pins do come in handy!

Once I had the ribbon pinned down the way I liked it - I stapled it securely to the back! Poor Stapler - getting quite a workout here!

Now once that was done, I took my furniture nails and placed them wherever the ribbon made "x"'s

and then I pushed them in. All Done!!

There are so many variations you could try - Explore them! For example - You could use cardboard instead of a bulletin board, brads instead of furniture nails, and who says you have to use fabric? What about using some of that stash pretty patterened paper we all have? Go Have Fun with it!!
